Philanthropic
As a
chapter of SALI, Inc, we are required to do one Philanthropic
project a year.
This is open to all chapter members and it is a
wonderful way to give to our community,
share our talents with
others, and learn from each other.
Our Philanthropic Projects have
included:
Care Net
The Children’s Museum, Everett Washington
Court Reporting Institute of Seattle, Seattle Washington
Little Red School House, Everett Washington
Vision House
Mozelle Spencer, Artistic Director
It is a facility that
will help homeless mothers with
children. They are in the first phase of a six million
dollar project. The Gates Foundation donated one million
dollars. Phase one will be housing for four mothers with
children as well as a daycare facility that will care for 67
children. I was able to get 30 artists in my peer group to
donate their time, energy and talents for this project.
This mural project started on May 1st and will continue
until May 22nd. With a total of 8 rooms to be completed!
Komo 4 heard of what we are doing and sent out a van on
Mother's Day to Vision House where half a dozen artists were
busy painting away.
